About the Workshop

Are you interested in drama or comedy ... or dramatic comedy? Do you like creating spontaneous stories? Perhaps you want to feel more comfortable when plunging into new situations? Or maybe you'd like to find a refuge from that recurring dream of being onstage without knowing your lines? Then you've come to the right place. Here, we do all of these things, and there are no lines to memorize.

This is a group for low-pressure, recreational improvisational theater. We've been meeting since May, 2010. What is improv? Improv is unscripted theater; it works because the actors listen well and accept the ideas that arise. All the rest is commentary.

Everyone is welcome, from people who have never performed improv to experienced improvisers. At a typical workshop, we start with some warm-up exercises and then play some short-form games or try some long-form scenes. We work on creating interesting characters, creating compelling stories, and generally enjoying ourselves. With any luck, the first two will happen. Without a doubt, we will definitely all have a good time.

You don't have to come every week — come whenever you want. Be warned, however, that improv is supremely addictive.
